Below is the statement I have prepared for the City Board. Thank you
We have owned this property on the corner of Highway 9 and Bethany for 15 years, and just last year paid almost
$70,000 in property taxes on this property to Fulton County and the City of Milton. Prior to the construction of CVS on the
property, for several years it was zoned for a convenience store.
Up until now, there has never been any interest shown in the site for a convenience store. However, in this down market,
I currently have a prospective tenant inquiring as to a possible convenience store on that corner.
If the City of Milton passes the 100 feet restriction between commercial and residential that it is now considering, that will
severely limit the uses for this property and will effectively prevent a convenience store on this corner. Please be aware
that this is one of the busiest street corners in the City of Milton, and up until a few years ago, it was zoned for exactly
that --a convenience store. I am certain the City of Milton wants the highest and best use for all the properties in its
domain. 1 am respectfully asking that the City of Milton not pass the 100 feet restriction and allow the highest and best
use for this very busy corner in the City of Milton.
