HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION NO. 09-06-96STATE OF GEORGIA COUNTY OF FULTON RESOLUTION NO. 09-06-96 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL TO APPROVE THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PROGRAM TO PURCHASE A DIESEL EXHAUST REMOVAL SYSTEM FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Milton, GA while in regular session on June 1St, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. as follows: WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security makes available funding under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program; and WHEREAS, such funds are awarded directly to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect first responders and the public by funding support materials and equipment; and WHEREAS, the primary goal of the AFG grant program is to assist local fire departments' capabilities by providing essential equipment to respond to emergencies, assuring that departments have adequate protection from fire and fire related hazards; and WHEREAS, the health and safety of our firefighters is of great importance to the City of Milton; and WHEREAS, the funding, if awarded, shall be used to purchase a diesel exhaust removal system for two of our fire stations; and WHEREAS, evidence authorizing the acceptance of said application may be provided to assist in the application process. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT SO RESOLVED, this 1St day of June, 2009, by the Mayor and Council of the City of Milton that the submission of the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant application is hereby approved; and if awarded the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the award package with directives under the Department of Homeland Security.
