HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION NO. 11-02-171STATE OF GEORGIA COUNTY OF FULTON F RESOLUTION NO. 11-02-171 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL TO .,r,-t7u ,rur ciTRMICRION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTIV WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security makes available funding under the Fire Prevention and Safety grant program; and WHEREAS, such funds are awarded directly to fire departments to enhance their ability to present life and fire safety education programs to the community; and WHEREAS, the primary goal of the Fire Prevention and Safety grant program is to provide funds in support of community safety education and fire and injury prevention activities essential to a progressive and safe community environment; and WHEREAS, the City of Milton has applied for funding through this program; and WHEREAS, the funding, if awarded, shall be utilized to purchase prevention and safety training materials including a 31 foot "fire safety house" trailer to serve as an educational platform, and to provide prevention -related training to our City's firefighters. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT SO RESOLVED, this 23`d day of February, 2011, by the Mayor and Council of the City of Milton that the submission of an application to the Department of Homeland Security's "Fire Prevention and Safety Grant" program is hereby approved; and if awarded the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the award package with directives under the Department of Homeland Security.
