Recognizing Karen Thurman for Her Service
To the City of Milton
WHEREAS, Karen Thurman has a long history of tirelessly serving the city of Milton and its
residents since the city's inception in 2006; and
WHEREAS, she was elected as council member to represent District 1 in 2006 and has served
in that capacity continuously to this day.
WHEREAS, prior to incorporation, Karen served on the City of Milton Organizing Committee
as chair of the Budget and Finance committee.
WHEREAS, Karen began her public service career as member of the Fulton County Board of
Zoning Appeals from 1995 until 2006 acting as the board's chair and co-chair
during that time and was also the co-chair of the Northwest Fulton Overlay
Committee from 1998 until 1999.
WHEREAS, in addition to her duties as a city council member, Karen has served the Milton
community though her volunteer work as a member of the booster club boards
for Milton High School softball, cross country and track and field, a member of the
Fulton County Rural Preservation Plan Committee and an officer on the Friends of
the Milton Library team.
WHEREAS, Karen has selflessly given countless hours of her personal time to work for and with
the citizens of Milton to make this a city that its residents are proud to call home.
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Milton, hereby recognize and,
with heartfelt gratitude, thank Karen Thurman for her dedicated service to the City and to its
citizens.
