ACTION REPORT
DESIGN REVIEW BOARD
JANUARY 4, 2011
1) Call to order and Pledge

3) Approval of December action minutes

4) Site plan review: Global Payments Data Center, 12700 Deerfield Parkway, Andrew

Motion to approve with conditions: Kathi Cook
Conditions:
The fence along the rear property line shall be black, vinyl clad chain link,
The opaque fence shall not be wood or have vinyl inserts,
The color of the modular block retaining walls shall be compatible with
the building exterior colors,
Eliminate the headwalls in the bio retention pond,
Reduce the amount of drainage at the entrance drive,
Attempt to save the 24” oak at the front northeast of the property,
Provide heavy landscape screening of the parking lot from Deerfield
Parkway,
Provide decorative plantings in front of the building,
Coordinate the size of the bio retention pond on all pages of the LDP (site,
grading, landscape, etc.) and provide planting detail producing a
natural look along Deerfield Parkway.
Add mix of evergreens to the hardwoods on the northwest slope, to help
screen the rear of the building,
Add a sidewalk for access to the smoking area.

5) Site plan review: Bethany Gas Station, Bethany Road & Highway 9, Mehdi Khan
Motion to approve with conditions: Kathi Cook
Conditions:
Provide planting area at corner intersection of Highway 9 and Bethany
Road (with seasonal color),
The minimum height of the specified evergreen screen shall be 10’at time
of planting,
Maintain plantings as shown in original landscape plan,
Location of fence to be approved by Community Development staff and
compatible with the Highway Overlay Design Standards
recommendations, but there shall be some plantings between sidewalk
and fence,
Provide one bench and trash receptacle at the intersection and place
the second bench and trash receptacle along Bethany Road pedestrian
entrance sidewalk that aligns with CVS entry drive,
Step back fence along Bethany Road pedestrian entrance sidewalk that
aligns with CVS entry drive to create entrance feature/pedestrian
area/seating area,
Board suggests entire site be paved with concrete in lieu of asphalt,
Board suggests reducing height of light poles to maintain residential feel.

6) Building plan review: Braeburn, McFarlin Lane, Michelle Horstemeyer
Motion to approve with conditions: Kathi Cook
Conditions:
Revise elevations on building plans to meet overlay requirements for
continuing materials to side and rear,
Material should be added; No less than what was submitted to DRB,
Alternate the style of garage doors,
The rear fence shall be composite wood,
Porches shall be a minimum of six feet deep,
If front is 100% brick, Board will allow a reduction on the side to a minimum of
60% brick in a logical design application; Rear shall remain 100% brick.
