TEMPORARY BUILDINGS Duluth United Methodist Church Walter Dean Deferred until December; requesting more information:  Repairs to building  Paint colors  Length of use  Landscaping KHOLS Brian Snelling Recommendations:  Replace chain link fence next to dock well  On left elevation: scale of element in middle should come down/become smaller, lower feature to band height . Needs to be humanized.  Add more brick vs. EFIS  Details of building should better match adjacent buildings  Khols should have a better presentation to Hwy 9; there is no connection between corner and other buildings. Landscaping on that side should be more free form.  Add more brick and other architectural elements; brick water table, brick box outs  Add planted arbors to break up large expanse of stucco  Make sure the back of the fake parapets are finished if visible.  Put sidewalk as close to building as possible.  Add a plaza area.  Add period lighting, columns, lighting, etc. CENTENAL VILLAGE/HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Tim McMillan Recommendations:  Paint back of each unit a different color.  Add awning or shed roof over some of the doors.  Offset back of units  Alternate garage doors  Vary colors a little more  Paint doors to match shutters  Add brick to some of the backs  Add more landscaping to back NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION Chris Hill Recommendations:  Roof stops too abruptly  Carry roof line all the way to the back, add another gable end.  Canopies over back doors  Repeat the from brick columns along Hwy 9 elevation  Windows should be divided/sash  No mirrored glass  Roof color—see Table 12.G.1  Break up continuous parking; add bulb outs RZ07-011 Applicant was not in attendance—No review. RZ07-018/U07-009/VC07-010 Applicant was not in attendance—No review. RZ07-019/VC07-011 Recommendations:  Seems to be too much on this site  Try to make more of a wooded campus  Include pervious pathways  Save as many hardwoods as possible  Parking should be more freeform; work around trees; no curb  This would be a good opportunity to blend two types of though: a organic site with a high tech building  Consider not building a square building U07-006/VC07-013 Recommendations:  Board requests that the applicant meet with the City Arborist/Staff to determine screening needs  Possibly plant screening on boulders surrounding area U07-007/VC07-012 Applicant was not in attendance—No review.
