Board comment: The barn to be removed is really nice—adds character to the area. 6) Courtesy reviews a) V12-008, 14325 Hopewell Road Request(s): To allow the height of a 5 board fence to increase to 72” adjacent to a public street Comments: Looking at the concept fence shown, the average driver won’t know the difference between a 6’ fence and a 55” fence. We understand that the applicant is required to comply with USDA requirements; does not obstruct us in terms of the visual impact that you might have on the community. That style of fence would be very attractive. Enough line of sight that the additional height w ould just not be noticed. Obtain letters of support from neighbors. b) V12-009, 105 Sable Point Drive Request(s): To allow an opaque fence in a yard adjacent to a public street. Comments: The standard is the horse fence. When the next person comes in to request this type of fence, how should we respond? Concerned about everybody coming in to ask for a privacy fence. ‘Along the row’ is specifically the point of the ordinance; to maintain visuals along main thoroughfares. Take pictures of similar fences. Get the endorsements of property owners facing that fence. 5 year old dog ear fences tend to look terrible. Marietta 0passessed type of fence for maintenance reasons. An option for privacy is to plant evergreens such as Leyland’s; in between the Leyland’s put up 6’ tall sections of Board and Batten fence. This produces a beautiful picture framed out. Look at different styles of fence that may be more aesthetically pleasing in the long run. Safety and privacy would be hardships. 7) Other business--none 8) Adjournment
